He received his education at Merchant-Taylors' School, and at Queen's College, Oxford, where he graduated B.A. 1787, M.A. 1790 moncler  , B. and D.D. 1813. In Trinity term, 1788, he was ordained deacon, on the curacy of Sherbourn and Lewknor, in Oxfordshire. He afterwards became curate of Witham, in Essex; and during his residence at that place he married Jane, daughter of the late General Dougl Ghd Hair Straighteners  as, who survives him without issue. In April, 1795, he was presented by his cousin-german and brother-in-law, Cornelius Ives, Esq., to the rectory of Bradden, in Northamptonshire*, from A pedigree of Ives and Van Mildert, accompanying the history of the parish of Bradden, has been just published in the fourth Part of Mr. Baker's Northamptonshire.
